replacing my 700r4

I'm replacing my 700r4 next week...now the junkyard I usually get my stuff from can sell me a used 700r4 in good working order for 200. Thats just to hold me over till I do a full rebuild of the one now with a vette servo and hi performance bands and clutched. The new one is out of a chevy astrovan? he said it mount right up except that I have to swap tailshafts with my existing 700.

is the new 700 gonna be strong enough to hold me over while I rebuild? Is it the same exact thing internally and can it handle my 305 tpi? thanks,
Jason

It should be able to hold up, as long as you let it (take it easy on the car while you're rebuilding the other tranny.)
