My tranny is whining

I installed a 700r4 tranny from an '86 firebird into my '84 camaro just recently. The new tranny works fine but I noticed this new whine that has come up. It almost sounds like the "first gear whine" that comes on all those old 3 speed autos, but it whines through every gear. Its not very loud, but its noticeable and its annoying. Any ideas as to what could be causing this?

Yes that was the first thing I did. It can't be the driveshaft or rear-end either because it does this in neutral / park also. Its definately coming from the tranny.

Perhaps a bad pump? Could also be the Torque converter. If its the Torque converter, the noise will go away once the TCC locks up.

Same thing that's happening with my tranny, I think. It "whines" through every gear, and in neutral - but not if the clutch pedal is down when I rev it. And my clutch is sticking. I don't know, you have an automatic....but "whining" is a good word to describe my sound, too.
