Shifter came off tranny...again
Okay, so once again my shifter has disconnected from my trans. It feels like a butter knife in a mayonnaise jar. What causes this?
I've also noticed over the past few months that 1st and 3rd have problems engaging. Is my trans or the Hurst shot? The Hurst is like 8-9 years old.

what do you mean came off?
the whole shifter fell right off?
then you have a bolting problem.
or its possible that the little cup that the end of the stick sits in is worn out. i believe if thats the case it can be replaced.
could you clarify the exact problem a bit?
thanks

I mean the ball at the end of the shifter comes out of the cup. Last time it did this, I retapped the bolt holes on the trans(since 2 were stripped) and it seemed to fix it. I guess vibration or something must have loosened them or maybe the shifter broke. I won't know until I remove the console.
