Shift feel question
I just installed another rebuilt tranny and have it working pretty well but have some questions about Auto shifting vs. Manually shifting. When in D or OD and to go to full throttle, it will shift into 2nd pretty tight and fast (still won't chirp'em though). But when I put it in 1st manually and open it up and manually shift to second, it doesn't feel tight at all. The shift takes a lot longer and it real soft. Does anyone else's tranny shift like this and should this be normal or could there be something wrong and if so, what could it possibly be? Any help would be great.
Thanks,
Tom

Depending on the size of the intermediate/reverse boost valve being used will determine how firm the 1-2 manual shift will be. If you want to solve this you could install the GM .296 intermediate/reverse boost valve, this will firm up the manual 1-2 shift. The main boost valve should be the .471 or .500 for firm shifts in the "D" or "OD" position. If I can be of help, give me a call? 800 7763288 M-S 10-6 PST.
to 700r4 is stock, and i dont see a difference in manually shifting verses in it drive / overdrive..
my car seems faster in drive/overdrive..
manually shifting i dont hit the same points all the time and either shift to early or high which is not good for my stock 350 tpi seeing 5,500 rpm..
when i stomp it in drive/overdrive every gear shift at roughly about 4,500 rpm
my car just seems faster in drive/overdrive..
when i try shifting manually i just cant seem to get it right and get bad times at the track..
