I have a '91 RS L03 with an automatic transmission. I have noticed lately that the transmission has begun slipping just a little bit between each gear 1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc. The 2nd to 3rd is the worst and most noticeable.

First of all What transmission do I have? I see that there are two types the 700R4 and another one. Is there an inexpensive way to repair my transmission short of a complete overhaul? What is causing the slipping?

I am mechanically inclined and figure that I may be able to fix it myself if I knew what was wrong and how to get there. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Has anyone tried this themselves or is it better left to a pro?

My final question: If i take it to a shop how much should I be prepared to spend for a car that is just a daily driver? I have no real intentions of racing the car so I don't really need a strong build up.
