filter change questions
well this car is ready for a fluid/ filter change. i dont even know when it had one last if ever. when cold it wont go into 1, 2 or drive just OD. then when it warms up it goes into these gears.i was wondering what this difference is between a flush and just changing the fluid /filter. what kind of gasket do i need to change when i do it? does it come with the filter or do i have to buy it seperate? i dont think it will be that hard to do just messy like everyone says. alot of people say if the fluid is burnt or something that i shouldnt change it, i dont think its burnt but if it is should i not change the filter and stuff? oh by the way i have a 700R4.
tranny flush gets all the old fluid out of the tranny pan and torque converter.. i recommend that..
however changing the fluid from just the pan not even get half of the total fluid !!
usually when you buy the filter you get a new gasket!

geeze i didnt know that you could only get half of it out that way. how do you do a flush? the local minake here charges 75$ for a transmission flush. oh and another question i had, when you put fluid in do you put it down the transmission dipstick tube? i know that sounds stupid but thats what i always did and didnt think there was another way. i need to get this done this weekend if possible, is ther any way to get the of half of the fluid out?

How do you do that?
I just replaced the filter and fluid a couple of days ago, because it was (and kind of still is) shifting into OD around 30MPH and it seems to me like it sometimes "skips" the 2nd gear but not always.
It seems to be running better now with the new trans fluid. By the way, I added the Lucas additive too. My car has over 167,000 miles on it. The trans was rebuilt two years ago for the previous owner. Any help?
