Best T5 Aftermarket Shifter??
I was thinking of getting an aftermarket shifter for my T5. Do they make that big of a difference? Do they just give you shorter throws? Whats the best kind to get??Thanx

Well I bought a hurst billet plus shifter and am 1000% satisfied with it. It makes a huge difference. You won't be disapointed if you buy the hurst, beleive me.
I know there are other shifters out there, but I only have experience with the hurst. Hopefully someone with a B&M will post and let you know what they think of it.

I have the B&M Ripper, which is great (not only are the throws shorter but the 'feel' is tighter). I would suspect that most after market shifters are pretty much the same in the above regard.

I got the hurst from www.jegs.com Cost $165 plus a $8.00 handling charge. Summit also carries them, but they are out of stock until January I believe.

I have a B&M ripper in my car with a 305 T-5. I was really happy with it when i first got it it was so nice and clean but after a while it seemed to loosen up alot. It is still however a BIG imporvment over the stock shifter.
i had a hurst competition plus for quite a few years, it was great. a quantum leap from the stock shifter. One of the features i liked best was that the spring centering force was adjustable. you could remove 2 spings to make a better road race shifter or leave them in for drag racing.

I've had the Hurst Comp Plus for nine years.
Still holding up fine.
(better than the trans, I'm almost done with the second one)

The only problem I have had with my hurst billet plus shifter was yesterday. The bolts that hold the stick on loosened. I tightened them correctly when I installed it, but they still loosened. So I pulled them out and put some blue loctite on them. Hopefully that will hold them.
Otherwise I'm still very happy with this shifter.
