well i am doing a quick transmission swap for temporary use because mine is going out and i have got a new transmission i got for cheep and was wondering if a TC off a 87 firbird with a v6 work, because i need a higher stall TC then a stock lo3 one. I know that the transmission is for a different deg block then the v8 one and i have heard that the bolts that hook to the flexplate are different and wanted to confirm that. And is there anything else that would make it not work if so?

A V6 torque converter is MUCH smaller than a V8 converter. I highly doubt it would even bolt up.

what if it does though ? woder if it would be the same effect as putting a 4 cyl th350(old vega's) converter in a V-8 th350
i heard that V-8 700r4 guys use S-10 700r4 converters all the time for cheap stall...
hmmm....

Those guys are probably using 4.3 torque converters. The 4.3 is a 90* block just like the SBC and the TC is probably identical in size.Originally posted by Fast68
