700R4 Swap Question

I have a question concerning swapping a 700R4. I have a 1985 IROC-Z with a 305 TPI. I can get a tranny out of 1989 Formula 350 for pretty cheap with a shift kit and the servo to allow full throttle in OD. Is there anything that will prevent me from doing this swap? I have been told there might be a problem hooking up the speedometer. Is there anyway this can be done, conversion kits, etc. Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.

No problems. You're moving in the right direction.

Assuming you have a mechanical speedo, just use the driven gear/housing from the '85 in the '89 tranny (make sure the speedo drive gear is the same, swap it out of the '85 if not).

Thanks fiveseven. Yes I have a mechanical speedometer, so at this point it sounds promising. Thanks for your input. It is very much appreciated.
