Help!?!?! 700 R4 problems

Okay, just finished my engine and got everything perfect, now the tranny won't shift out of first gear. The TV cable is adjusted properly, and its getting proper vaccum on the carb with solid lines to the tranny. I just replaced the filter and fluid, used B&M trick shift, and there was no leakage. I put in the 2 stage shift kit back in june, and never had a problem with it before. Can anyone help, please?? New trannies are expencive, and I don't want a new one if I can avoid it.

P.S.- The tranny was draining for 6 months while I worked on the engine, and I put in a solid 6 quarts to get the level up to full hot.

Most likely a broken or stripped governer gear. Second, get rid of the B&M Trick Shift, it will take out the transmission in a short time. Use Mobil or Aamco Dexron III non-synthetic fluid.

Hmmmm....

Im thinking new tranny... I checked it out today, and Im going with the 87-93 700 R4, with a 2500 stall and a shift kit. The best quote I got was $1200 for a rebuilt, how that sound to y'all? Id rather not have to worry about the transmission again.

By the way, what is wrong with the Trick Shift? It is a non-synthetic (the type I got anyway) dextron III, so it ought to work just fine.
