Just installed the Pro 5.0, WOW

Thunder racing had it on sale for $159 so I decided to buy it. I am glad that i did. The shifts are a lot shorter and really crisp. You can hit fifth gear just as fast as you can hit 3rd. Installation was striaght forward however installation is much more involved for camaro owners. If you have a bird you just have to take the center console off but for camaro guys you have to remove the lower part of the dash (under the steering wheel), remove stereo and climate controls, and the center console. Other than that it was pretty easy. Check out some before and afters. I put the old shift **** on because my Momo sits to high. I have to get it machined out again so that i can get it to sit lower. I took mutiple pictures and may write a tech article on this.

Man, you removed a lot more than you *had* too. I remove [on my camaro] the top console cover, the AC/radio plate, shift plate, and just loosen the console itself to get at the screws to the weather boot. The AC and radio stuff you just ease out of the way.

The Pro 5.0 is a great shifter. Haven't met anyone say anything bad about it. Some others prefer the other brands but you just can't go wrong with a Pro 5.0.

looks good.

Well I thought I could just manuver around the console as well, however, I could not get at the bolts that surrounded the rubber cover thing over the floor pan. It was hard keeping it out of the way so I just decided to remove it and get it out of the way so I could do a good job. I only had simple tools to because all of my tools were stolen last week, that is a whole other story

i hav a hurst shifter and i totally adore it, i noticed the shorter shifts also, and i seem to hav more leverage to make everything shift easier. very nice.

Whats the difference, besides it being shorter by an inch or two? Is that a stock shifter also?

That is a pic of the stock shifter vs the Pro 5.0. The stock shifter is an absolute piece. My car only has 34,000 miles on it and all of the rubber surrounding that stock shifter was torn and ripped and worn to all hell. As for the difference the Pro 5.0 is a little shorter (about 3/4") in actuall hieght but the throws are %17 shorter and more presice. You can actually hit fifth as fast as you can hit third. I could never do that with the stock shifter. You can feel each gear go into place and you can feel each gate as you go throught the gears. I belive if you want a shorter handle for this shifter you can get Lou's Short Stick which is like $50. It is made for the Pro 5.0 for 6 spd's but it says it can be used on fourth gen 5spd's which uses the same Pro 5.0 shifter as thridgen T-5's. I may get that because I want to use my Momo **** that is in my firt pic at the top of the page. I had that think thread matched to the shaft but it doesn't screw down that far and sits to tall and feels akward.

I might try the lou's later on mine, but with my T56 and Pro 5.0, just ended up cutting about an inch off the stick, since its got like 2" of thread, and the mba **** i have is supposed to lower it a bit too.
