T-5 - Where to get?
T-5 - Where to get?
I've decided that I'm probably going to look for an L98 Camaro and do a manual tranny swap rather than take the 305 and already have the manual.
I did look up the Tech Article, so I'm all set on how to do the swap itself - however, the only problem is finding the T-5. I don't really want to buy the T-56, as I don't feel like spending that much money on just a new tranny. Where can I buy the T-5 transmission from?

Borg & Warner T-5s that came with most 305's aren't strong enough to hold up to a 350. That's why GM never optioned them on a 350.
You could go aftermarket and get a Tremec T-5, but you will spend some $$$ to get one. You might be better and cheaper off by getting a T-56

There are a few people running deep 13's and even 12's on stock WC t-5s. They can hold up if your gentle and an aftermarket shifter with shift stops is a must.
I'll probably still get an aftermarket tranny though, just to be safe...and with the amount of mods I'm eventually planning, the stock T5 may have some trouble holding up
.
I noticed that the Tremec TR-3550 is rated at 425lb/ft torque capacity, which is certainly more than enough...
Where's the least expensive place to get a TR-3550? How much can I expect to pay for a good-quality bellhousing and shifter?
