tranny bellhousing????????

I have a V6 700r4 and want to put a V8 engine in. Do I have to get a new tranny or is there a way to make the V6 tranny work with a V8 enigne, like change bellhousing and keep same internals????

86 camaro 2.8 trying to put a 305 or 350 in.

You could keep the internals of the V6 and have them put into the casing of a V8 700, but why??? The parts of the V6 trans are all a lot weaker than the V8 trans, and you'll just break it in no time, save yourself the time, aggravation, and most of all money, and just get a V8 Trans.

They don't bolt up.. the ""bellhousing"" on a late model automatic tranny is part of the same casting as the case.. they don't separate without hours of work with cutting tools of godly proportions... and then you'd have to put them back together.. but why would you be doing this if you had a donor v8 tranny to chop up in the first place?

I would also like to add that while I was ignorant some years ago, I asked a similar question.. I'm pasting a link to that short-lived thread. The bottom line, however, as noted in the post, is it's cheaper to buy a v8 car. I picked up my '88 for 800 bucks.. I see things fly at that price all the time. My v6 was a grand. Do the math.

EDIT: Wow.. I also just noticed.. that post was made 2 years and a whole 6 days ago.. at about this time in the morning.. how nostalgic It's amazing what a few years can do.. I'm finally getting around to that T5 swap for the V6 (a headache within itself) and otherwise spend most of my time working on evil f'd over rebuild dodges.. the agony =\
