4l60e died, need rebuild info

The 4l60 in my 91 GTA died as I went over train tracks yesterday. I am thinking about rebuilding it myself more stout than stock. I know there are many posts on this subject, and I am currently researching them, but I also want some current opinions. I need to figure out if I'm going to do it myself or send it to a shop, though I don't trust them.

What rebuild kit do I buy? How much does it cost? What does it include - I want/need more than new clutches? What video do I buy to show me how to do it? Thanks for the help.
