T5 driveshaft bushing - how to replace?
Ok- now that I've got a new bushing... how do I get the old one out and the new one in without trashing it? Or do I need the puller and tool that the service manual mentions?
Thanks....
Thanks....
Hold on a sec,
Are you guys talking about the bushing in the tail end of t5 tranny's that the driveshaft rides on? I need to change mine. I'm pretty sure my whinning noise is coming from there and there are small groove marks on my yoke.
Are you guys saying i can get to it without removing the transmission with some sort of puller???
Thanks for the help...

Steve- that's the bushing. I've got my tranny out of the car and apart for a rebuild so it's no big deal for me to just pound it out if I have the right tool, but I would think a puller would be available if it's still in the car.....

There are pullers available, but I don't think Auto Zone has them.
If the trans is apart, you use a bushing knocker type of tool. Just like for cam bearings, auto trans work, etc. Very common tool. I use my actual cam bearing tool.

Thanks for the responses guys. I had my WC T5 apart a good 4 years ago so I don't really recall too much.
Here's what I need to know.
Will a tranny shop like AAMCO or similar have the puller required to simply remove the driveshaft and pull the bearing out form the rear of the trans?
If so - that sure as hell beats me dropping the tranny and splitting the case to get at it from the inside.
Thanks for the help !
