Installing shifter - bolt snapped! HELP!!!!

I'm in the middle of installing a B&M Megashifter. I get to the part where you have to remove the stock shift arm (the piece on the tranny were the cable connects to) and replace it with the B&M piece.

Well, the damn nut must have been frozen on the shift because the damn thing busted! The area on which the shift arm goes onto with the two flat notches is there, but the threaded shaft to hold the shift arm onto the piece is busted off.

Is this an external piece that I can get or am I screwed to the point where I have to replace that whole shifting shift which goes into the tranny?

The sooner I know what I have to do the better as this is my daily driver and she's up on jack stands as we speak!

Thanks guys!

-Mike

From your description I have no idea where in the hell it broke, but if it's the shaft that goes into the transmission to do the shifting, you've got to drop the pan to change it. Fortunately, it's easy as hell to swap, and is an inexpensive part. I broke mine off flush with the trans case when I tried to remove it. That's reason #10,230 that I hate the POS under-engineered megashifter. There's no reason that POS shifter couldn't just come with an adapter that used the stock cable.

Jim,

Do you have that part number for that shaft and where I can get one? (like I need it ASAP, of course).

I guess I might as well go ahead and get a TRansgo shiftkit as well since I'm gonna be in there!

Thanks!

Nah. I don't have the number. Any monkey behind the GM parts counter can come up with it though.

A local tranny rebuilding shop should have a bucket full of those shafts (used, of course) and all the seals and filter kit you'll need to change it. They might GIVE one to you!
