I need good gas mileage put fastness too!
I'm swapping a 455 with a TH-400 connected, into the Camaro. I was wondering, what gear's should I run in the rear-end to get good mileage, put still pull pretty good.
Someone explain and give examples of what the difference is between a, 4.11 gear and a 3.23 gear. Topend? Lowend? Idle speeds?

first thing... are you running a 10 bolt rear? if so then you will have to run 4.10s i believe...
3.23s will definatly give you better gas milage compared to the 4.11s... you will be able to cruise at a lower RPM than with the 4.11s thus why you will have beter milage...
i would go with the 3.23s in that tranny... do you drive on the interstate much... if so stay away from the 4.11s... even 3.73s are a PITA in a 400... my buddy has 3.73s in his and at 65 on the interstate he is at like 3400 RPMS... he doesn't drive it on there much but when he does he hates them...
a 3.23 gear will give you better gas milage... you will have a better "top speed"... as in if you tried to take it to redline in 3rd gear... and such...
a 4.11 gear will give you a little better times in the 1/4... if you don't run out of gear... if you wanna go higher than the 3.23s go with a 3.73... 4.10s are way to high for an auto with no OD IMO
