How hard would this be?
How hard would this be?
How hard/easy would it be to put a ford9" and a muncie/jerico 4-speed manual in a 3rdgen? With the 9" would i still be able to run a rear swaybar? Do I need to buy a certain type of 9" to fit the thirdgen? Sorry for the dumb questions im not to knowledgable on swapping.

if you aren't that knowledgable it may be best to not attempt it. buy a 9" for a thirdgen f body. as for the trans manual linkage always seems to be a sticking point with most people. better to look at a t56 or tremac.

I have swapped a rearend in before, and i could go w/ a 12 bolt if I need to depending on how much I find one for. Plus my dad will be helping and he has done all this before. And I would really like the 4-speed cause its goin behind a BBC. What problems to people have with the linkage?

The clutch linkage requires cutting on the firewall and fabrication of a pivot point...newer transmissions use hydraulic clutches which keep the hacking to a minimum. Running a big-block doesn't leave much room to squeeze in a Z-bar or whatever clutch linkage you're considering.
For the shifter linkage, it's just more floorpan cutting which some people don't like. Swap in a T56 from an LT1 car and you'll be cutting anyway so doesn't seem so bad to me.
As for the rear-end, whether 12-bolt or 9", there isn't a directly-transplantable option from the junkyard. You need to add lower control arm brackets, spring perches, and the torque arm mount. Aftermarket bolt-in options from Moser and others exist but cost upwards of $2000 complete.
