Is my tranny good enough?
I have a 400 sb and i am planning on installing AFR 190 heads. Will my TH 400 be strong enough to handle the power. If i had to switch trannys i would like a 6 speed manual. What would you suggest.

a 400 is stouter than a 6speed really
maybe not out of the box..but easily buildable.
But,, fitting a 400 in a 3rd gen is not a boltin operation. Crossmember and yoke are the first issues.

its unlikely it needs anything
just have it checked out.,.. and at least a shift kit. Most 400s will take the absolute worst any small block can dish out if the trans is in good shape.
