Side Axle problems
Not sure if I posted this here already or not but I figured I would throw it out there...
The story
Last summer I was out crusing with a buddy of mine, I was in front and he was behind me.. when we pull into a parking lot he jumps out of his car and has a weird look on his face.. he says " Man it looks like your rear drivers side wheel is going to fall off, it's wobbling side to side".. after me telling him he had to lay off smoking crack and driving (joking) as I couldn't feel it in the wheel, he persisted.. so I let him drive my car and I drove behind him. Holy crap he was right!! The wheel looked to me like it was floating side to side... this had me baffled as I never felt it in the wheel at any speed, high or slow speeds
So as soon as I got a chance I jacked the rear end up and put it up on axle stands... started the car and sure enough the wheel looked like it went side to side. So I pulled the wheel and I could see the rotor doing the same thing...so I pulled the caliper/rotor and I noticed the mounting flange (with the 5 studs) was moving side to side (although now less noticeable due to the smaller diameter of course)...obviously I had a bent axle so just to be sure I put the drivers side wheel over on the passenger side and it rolled straight.
So I am pretty sure it's my side axle..at least I think I'm sure...could be the bearings as I would think that a bent side axle would cause a pretty good vibration..I dunno!! hehe
So to my question... I have the 9 bolt 3.27 posi rear end... will the side axle out of a 10 bolt rear end work?
Sorry for the "book" of an explanation
