700r4 problems (big surprise, right?)

this is my second trans, i put it in last september, it's out of a 92 astro with a 4.3L, i used the stahl from the 4.3 too. Got it all in, drove it to the shed and put a cover on it, got it out yesterday and the thing shifts like sh*t. I tested it when we had it on blocks (all 4) for the trans replacement, the wheels spun, i was happy, parked it. When i took it out today, i hammered it, it ran to 2400rpm slow as hell....it felt like it took six seconds to get to 2400, then shifted, then went to about 3200 and shifted, and i was doing all i could to get it to 60 in 4th, i know the things not burned out, i can watch the tach shift through all 4 gears, the shifts and everything alse just feel all wrong. I know the governor and whatnot isn't exactly the same, but this is no good at all...at WOT i should atleast be able to get up to 4000 in first...i'm thinking i'm running the quarter about 6-8 seconds slower than stock....so 23-35 seconds...it really is horrible..pitiful, WTF is wrong? i'm pissed and out of ideas...it has to be something i'm overlooking...

I'd replace the governor with one set up for a car with your
rearend's gear ratio and readjust the TV cable. It is possible
that the converter is also bad. Can you drive over bricks placed in front of both front tires?

well, i can drive up and down the ramps all day long...i was playing tonight, 1st shifts out at 2500, 2nd at 2800, 3rd at 3000, and can't get much higher than 3500 in 4th (pedal to the floor), however, if i gun it and shift through manually, i can hold it to about 6000 (right about where i need it) and rap out every other gear until it's buried in 4th...surprised the hell out of me...so i'm good for racing atm, but it still sucks driving around in od. I can't think of a single reason it works fine manually but not automatic...in auto, i can put it to the floor and it'll get to a certain rpm and feel like it's hitting a rev limiter or it's loading up, then it shifts and climbs a little above the previous rpm...all 4 gears...

If it'd help at all, i could do a quick video of it
