Problem after installing TransGo kit

Now there is no reverse, or neutral...park works, but every other gear is a drive gear. The shift linkage was a little tough bolting up (binding), and it was pretty late (and I'm sick) at night when I did that part...so hopefully, I just messed up the linkage. Any ideas?

If this is a 700R4, sounds like the little z rod that connects the manual valve to the selector shaft is not connected. Its real easy for that little rod to disconnect when trying to bolt up the valve body. You need to drop the pan and have another look at your manual valve linkage.

Its a 700R4...thanks, I'll try that when I get home. I thought it might have been a shift linkage problem, but I don't think so now.

I'm still learning, so I'm going to ask the dumb questions...

manual valve linkage... thats the rod that was right next to the Detent, right?

So using the pic...you believe 3 unhooked from 4?

When this unhooks the car selector will work, but it will not tell the valve body what to do right, because it does not move the valve... I wonder why It had park and drive though?

Yes, that is the little Z rod I was talking about. The reason that you still have park is that the inner detent lever is still hooked to the park rod. The park rod is the long rod that goes all the way back the rear of the transmission and locks the output shaft when in the park position. The manual valve is just sitting there in the drive position an not hooked to anything. It see's "Drive" (or D1, D2) all the time.

Yes, thanks for your help. I'm glad someone could clue us in to the problem. I know we hooked it up, but I never double checked it after that. We called TransGo last night and could get no one on the phone. Tech was too busy. Finally today we got thru they said the same thing you did. Let's hope the rest of the install is correct! I know I triple checked everything else!

Its fixed! Arrio Z28, you were right. The linkage rod was hanging down, must have come loose when the valve body was put in. The car drives much better now, and all gears work great (though it didn't want to shift at first...this cleared up in a minute or so on its own). We are going to install another washer though to firm up the shifts some more; two aren't enough with this car (2.8 V6).
