Built 10 bolt to built 9 bolt swap

I am currently running a 10bolt with Richmond 3.73s, Moser 28 splined axles, alum stud girdle/cover, zex posi, and 89+ brakes. I am considering selling the rear end for $600 and catching a factory '88 2.77 posi 9 bolt for $200 from a local friend.

The idea would be to switch the 9 bolt to 4.10s and make it as strong as it can be. www.9bolt.com Is this a cost effective swap for me considering strength to cost ratio? (How strong will the 9bolt be vs a 9", 12bolt, or dana 44 once it's built up?)

How would I handle the disk brake swap issue? (88 9 bolt to 91 10 bolt)
Thanks for any input!

I don't think you will be able to get $600 for a 10 bolt. As far as rearend strength

Here is the order from strongest to weakest:
Ford 9'inch
GM 12 bolt
Dana 44
BW 9 bolt
GM 7.5 10 bolt

I was going to trade him $390 + his 9 bolt. That's not a bad deal for him considering the moser axles alone are $265+, the spohn brackets are $75, the alum stud cover is $150, etc etc. There is $1000 into this rear end.

Is that order with each one being built to the hilt? Probably not..

A built 10 bolt is significantly stronger than a stock 9bolt, espeically with any mileage. For him to change his 9bolt gears alone is $300. Stronger rear end with low mileage + new gear ratio for $390...not bad I'd say. I'm saying this because he is a friend and I'm not trying to rip anyone off.

If youre planning on swapping a 9 bolt 2.77 to a 4.11, be warned that the 2.77 carrier will not work. DiffSolutions is supposed to be working on a spacer to adapt the two, but a release date has not been set. Anyway, youre looking at roughly $820 for the ring/pinion/posi carrier package. You can get Moser axles for the BW and DiffSolutions is going to be releasing a support cover shortly. These prices add up quickly, but its not too bad considering its near impossible to find a 12 bolt or 9 in. for under $2500. The 9 bolt is slightly lighter than those two, but theres a lot of strength with that extra weight. Bottom line, if you can afford a 9in/12bolt, go for it, if not, (like me) go with the BW.
