TO much tire spin... slicks on stock rear?
ok here is my problem i have this mildly built motor (388 stroker) in this 3500 pound camaro that i raced yesterday. i have directional cut 245 60 rz 15's on the back. and i got no trackion. it was like 30 degrees out so that dont help but this just sucked it spun off the line and spun when i shifted my auto trans. to 2nd and barked in 3rd. i have a all stock open 3.42 rear in my car and it would run 14.00 at 98mph with 2.85 60 foots my question is if i put sticky slicks on it would it blow apart my rear.... if soo what would go? the axles? i plan to put a posi in but dont have the $$ and i happen to be able to barrow some slicks

I have heard that slicks can mess up the rear because when you have tire spin, the power is being dispersed on the ground through the tire spin. When you have a lot of power then you put on the slicks, you dont get the tire spin. The power has to go somewhere and since the tires are not spinning, the rear takes on all the power, and if it is a cheap or weak rear, then i would imagine that the rear would go. im not sure if what i said is 100% correct, it is something i have heard from several people. hope this helps.

It is possible to bust a 9 bolt rearend. It is not very easy but it can be done. If you were mid to low 11's I would being thinking about a 10 bolt if you go to the track a lot. It depends on how much you race at the track.

i moved my tourqe arm could that make a differnce with wheel spin at what level should the front be at i herd the lower (closer to the ground) the front is the more bite? is this true i have to move the mounting point to my new reanfoced crossmember because of the tranny swop
