Do I want a high stall speed or a low one?
I am a bit confused as far as what the lock speeds on a torque converter mean? IE 2400RPM, 2200RPM, etc...? I have done extensisve searches and found some great info on what a torque converter does, but not what the different lock speeds are for? Sorry if this sounds stupid, but does a 2400RPM lock speed mean the car won't move until you hit 2400RPM's?
I am buying a new tranny (pro-built) and I really want to know what the difference is so I can make an informed decision.
PS I am looking for something that will allow me good gas mileage. Looking for 325 FHP and 25mpg, highway. Going ot be using 3.23 gears on a posi rear, pro-built street/strip tranny, and a lightly built TPI vortec 350.

As far as my understanding of Torque converters is, and it is limited in everyway (hoping someone with knowledge will jump in)
The higher the stall speed is used when you want to be in or just a little under your peak torque.
IE if you make 350lb-ft of torque @ 3200 RPM, you would want a stall around 3000 that way you are just under your peak torque, therefore giving max power to the ground for a killer launch (provided you hook up)

What happens to the torque converter when you hit that stall speed? Also does the stall speed have anything to do with mileage at all?
