Just wondering if anyone has ever broken one of their c-clip axles before, and the chaos it has caused. Pics and stories would be great if you guys got em. Thanks.

 

the street car choas site has a compilation video where a guy's car broke the axle on the launch, the car staged, lights went down, car lunged forward, wheel and 1' of axle came off, car hit the ground hard...

 

A friend of mine had the left one break in his K-5 Blazer... broke just outboard of the splines..... launched the wheel & tire and axle across a parking lot (empty thank goodness), went several hundred feet before it came to rest. Fortunately he didn't have to make a hard right turn, so the truck stayed on its other 3 until he could get it stopped.

I saw a 78 cutlass break an axle one night at the track. The car was running really good, it sounded like the guy was doing neutrul drive drops launching. He dopped it at the tree, tires hooked and went about 15 feet then there was this horrible boom and here comes the driver side axle out of the wheel well. oops.
I figure I will frag my rearend if i ever hook the new engine i'm putting in.

no, but thats just what happened to the car i saw. I race at chandler raceway in Chandler Indiana, next to Evansville. I saw the c clip come out of the car at Windy Hollow Raceway close to Owensboro Kentucky. I have bever been to the US 41 track.
