Stupid Mistake
Here's the story: I get up to around 4,000 rpm in first gear, I push the clutch in to shift into neutral but the shifter gave a bit of resistance and my hand slipped off and it never went out of first, thinking i was in neutral, I slam the cluth out, the engine is probably around 2,000 rpm now. That's when i found out I was in first. There was a grinding sound, but it didn't sound like metal on metal, and i heard the engine backfire a few times after I pushed the cluth in again. The grinding was only for about two tenths of a second, i almost immediatly pushed it in again. MY QUESTION(s) IS: could i have broken anything and not realized it? Why the grinding sound? what parts were being stressed when that happened? finally Have I created any potential problems for myself by doing this? Also, am i being paranoid about a little error or is my concern valid?
Thanks for your help.
