Is my shift kit supposed to do this?
Hi guys, well i just recently got my trans go shift kit installed like 2 weeks ago. I have enjoyed it very much but I just was wondering if the shop I had do the work, did it right.
Well my question is, now that it is installed when I am in just plain old 'D' and hit the gas, it will keep revving up all the way and not shift itself. I have to shift it myself up to 'OD' Is this supposed to happen? I havent tried to do it with the others yet '1' and '2' but I assume the same thing. OD is the only one where when i floor it from a dead stop will shift up through the gears itself.
So the real question is, does this sound right for the trans go shift kit? Also now that it is installed is it better for me when launching to just leave it in 'OD' and floor it or shift myself up the gears to get the best out of her? Thanks!!!!!!

If you leave the Shifter in D not OD the tranny will only shift up to 3rd gear it will not shift into OD or 4th gear and if you try this with any other gear it will do the same thing ie leave the shifter in 2nd and the car will shift any higher than 2nd gear.

Well what I was trying to say was that before the shift kit, I could have just drove around in Drive. Now if I have it in drive it will rev up so fast that at like 35 mph or so it is at like 5500rpms and rising. then I have to shift it myself to OD, Is that normal after the shift kit?(transGo)
Ok so what about the shifting issue, is it better for me to just floor it in OD or shift up the gears myself when racing? Or is it just a driver preference in this matter?

many engines have been blown while screwing with the shifter. if you know what you are doing with it its fine. if you shift yourself you can control the shift points and let your engine reach its power band before the tranny wants to shift. I dont even shift out of first in my race car I just let the engine sing!!
