Just installing shims will only work for a short period of time, then the condition will be worse. To do it correctly requires more than just a few shims.

For 88 427 camaro
Can you explain what else should be done besides the shims on a 9 bolt assuming back lash, bearings etc look good? I have in my possesion two die set that i was going to rework so I can punch out multipe shims varying thickness, but I may not be able to rework the punch and die sets till Spring time.Could anybody tell me the tolerance on ID and OD and prefered steel(hopefully not blue steel, spring steel). I saw a posting on not exceeding a specific od and Id but I need these numbers to the Thousands of an inch for Tool and Die work.Thickness reqired, I think if my memory serves me well, were .005,.010,& .050 real bitch to cut blue steel at .050 I'may be able to supply freebeis to third gen member but no promises . Thanks PT
