Pro 5.0 Aftermarket T-56 shifter. Questions answered
The aftermarket T-56 shifter uses a GM T-5 bolt pattern. Unfortunately you can not use a GM T-5 shifter due to the rotation of the T-5 transmission and the shifter handle bent away from the driver. The aftermarket T-56 is straight up.
When I ordered it I said I can use the GM T-5 base but he said no. The ball on the shifter, that contacts the shift rail in the tranny, is a little short for the T-56.
Then he got a shifter base for the Mustang T-56, which I found out has the same bolt spacing as a GM T-5 shifter. He said this base will work in my T-56 with the Pro 5.0 GM T-5 handle.
Well I just got it today and looks like a quality piece and that it should fit perfectly. I can't wait to install it.

So on the aftermarket T-56 you used a shifter base for the Mustang T-56 and the Pro 5.0 GM T-5 handle.
Is the shifter base a Pro 5.0 ?
Did you get it in the car yet and how does it fit?
I am getting ready to order my aftermarket T-56 for my car and was wondering about this.
Thanks.

So your saying I need to order a T-56 mustang shifter and put a GM T-5 handle on it? I also ran into this problem. Could I use a mustang shifter handle? Or will that not work?

Yup that is what the guy at Pro 5.0 told me. It is a 2003 Cobra T-56 shifter, with a T-5 handle. I am also going to install the RobMod to cut down on vibration.
Have not had a chance to install it yet. I am just too busy working on my house now

Ghost: The Rob Mod is when a piece of rubber is place between the shifter handle and where it mounts to the shifter. Do a search on LS1.com
mhaskell:The tranny is in and it works great. The only problem I had was the Spohn loop cross member and TA combo. After I mounted the tranny the loop hit the TA. I sawed it off and put a different one on.
