Tranny on the way out??

After getting the car back on the road, new heads and some other stuff, the tranny was still slipping on the 1-2 shift. Well the other day it's just shifting horrible. I'm driving along from a stop real light on the throttle and it doesn't want to shift into 2nd till about 3k rpms. If I get on it hard it will delay shifting into 2nd, then feels like it goes into 3rd rather quickly.

The fluid level is fine, the tv cable should be ok, I can't check it today asit is raining.

I'm just wondering if I bought the TransGo shift kit if this would help solve my problem.

I had a rebuild about 10k miles ago or so, but it's always kind of slipped on the 1-2 shift.

I have no clue how to work on trannies or access to a place to do it. Any idea how much a tranny shop would charge to put one in?

Thanks.

Oh, wouldn't that be lovely. The TV cable looks to be in the same position as it always has since being adjusted, just have to wait till it's not raining

That really sucks... yeah my tranny just went out... I put a new tranny in myself. Finishing up today. (Tranny is bolted up, just need to reinstall driveshaft, fill with fluid, etc.)

If you can find a place to work on it I'd try and tackle it yourself, if you have a couple buddies willing to help you. I had no idea what I was doing but I'm almost done. It's not really hard concept-wise.. just gotta make sure you have people to help hold things. If you need links or info on what to do just PM me. As for having a shop do it, I'm not sure how much that would cost, but probably would be ridiculous....

Driving a car with a slipping tranny sucks, no?

btw, what happend to your 92873948797 posts?

Anyway Mark that sucks about ur tranny mines not even slipping or anything but i went to get a quote for a shift kit install a few months back at Eld Performance and i believe they said 125 bucks for Automatic Transmissions on Richtie Highway to do it, its near Lazy Boys in Glen Burnie, that could be a good place.

might want to look in a phone book and find the number.

that's not too bad I guess. Though I might be able to get one from a '84 TA with 50k miles, just have to tow it and switch it out. HOpefully, I can do it that way, and be free
