literally, ...tranny was slippin going into third, pop the hood, 1 quart low, ..simple, pour it in and go, right? Wrong, ...after a quick 1 block test drive, get home, ...1 quart of tranny fluid, in my driveway.....out of the blue, i have a tranny leak??? what causes this??????? keep in mind its 4 am, didnt look all too closely, appears to be leaking from the front region of the pan? dunno...

Crawl under there and rule out the easy stuff before you go down the worst-case scenario of front seal...there are more common and easily fixable causes.

Could just be a leaky pan gasket. If so it's a good excuse to change the fluid & filter while you have the pan off.

Could be the tranny dipstick tube came loose from the trans body, also an easy fix.

Cooling lines could be loose @ the trans case or rad. Or the lines could have been snapped from bending during other work you recently did on the engine.

Any of these is easier to fix than the front seal, so check them out and hope for the best.

well i did that exactly today, pulled the car on ramps, grabbed a rag, wiped everything clean, ...took the fly wheel cover off, and started lookin, saw no leaks, so i poured a quart of fluid in there, ...no leaks, ...cranked the car up, ..no leaks, drove around for 30 mins, parked the car, let it run, no leaks, ...cut the car off, ....let it sit for an hour, ..no leaks.....tranny is still slipping going into third though.....not AS rough, but still slips, ...clicking noise comming from the flywheel area , and a burning smell as well.....who knows.....anyone got a decent 700r4 for sale ?? heh or should i replace the filter, boosters, and get the tranny flushed <can i flush one at home??> oh well....shifts fine when i do it manually, guess ill do that til it dies fully....
