Just finished my T-56 install
Well, it's been 4 years in the making, but I finally got around to installing my T56.
Not much new to report on the install. It took about 16 hours, and was pretty straight forward. No real "gotchas" to mention. Had to cut out the shifter hole in the tunnel, and mount all the hardware, but other than that, VERY straight forward. I used Spohn's torquearm/crossmember, centerforce dual friction clutch/pressure plate/throwout bearing, ploy trans mount, and a Kirban short throw shifter. Everything else was factory 95 Camaro including the clutch/brake/gas pedal assembly.
I used the leather 5-speed shift boot for my year camaro......and the install looks completely factory. The car wont start unless the clutch pedal is pushed in, and the brake and reverse lights work properly.
As for the fun factor rating....My ***, this quite possibly could be the best thing I've ever done! Man O' man! It is an absoluite blast to drive the car!!! I really wish I hadn't waited so long to do the install. For those of you who are thinking about doing it, I say GO FOR IT!! You will love it.
Next thing to do now, is get started on swapping my 95 T/A interior into the car. I picked up the complete charcoal grey interior -dash, door panels (the nice ones with the speaker grills in the door), console, guage cluster, all wiring components, etc...everything... for $300 canadian. I couldn't pass that up.
I tell you, I've renewed my interest in my car with the greatest passion (I was kinda not into for the last couple years while studying at university). Ok, later folks

Good work, how much money did you spend excluding the trans itself? I want to do this after college.
Was your a car a 5 speed to begin with?

Hey Tom84L69,
Excluding the trans, I paid $375 for the torque arm from Spohn, $100 for the shifter, and $500 for the dual friction clutch from Summit (4 years ago....so I'm not sure what the price is on it now)
Then there were a few misc parts I picked up from GM, like the console shift boot cover, etc.
I managed to get the pedal assembly off ebay for $5. That was a good deal!. The rest of the parts came with the transmission.
The car orginally had the 700R4, which reminds me, I have to go pick it up. C'ya
