tranny swap clarification

Swapping a 700r4 from a firebird with a 2.8L V6 into a TA with a 305 cannot be done due the the bellhousing difference correct? Not even with any adapter out on the market. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

You should be able to change the bellhousing on the 700R4. Right?

I didn't think that you could on a 700r4. If you could that would be nice for me right now but I don't think you can. Hopefully someone else could clarify.

You may be right about that. I'm not real sure.

There may be an adapter for it (700r4's don't have separate bellhousings), but I wouldn't recommend it. The internals of 60* v6 700r4's are different than their v8 counterparts. Not only will you be swapping in a unit not equipped to handle the extra duty of the v8, but I'm guessing the unit is used as well??
