what is this thing?

this trans i traded for my stock 700r4. i thought it was a 350 but know ive been looking on this site and everyone says you can use the shifter and the drive shaft just needs to be longer. well now i look and the shifter sticking out is different (looks kinda like a squared c with two holes) also the part of the drive shaft that goes into the trans is too small and i think the trans has more splines. so what is this and can i use it?

the shift lever can be changed easly, take the one nut off..veola
your shifter bracket can be mounted same as the 700's on the pan, bolt spacing will be differant youl only be able to get one bolt in one bracket hole and the other can be lipped in, and as for the spines being off, there are 2 diferant 350 shaft spline sizes....got a pick from the passenger side of tranny????

That's a Turbo 400.

Yes you can use it, but it's a long way from a direct bolt-in. You've already mentioned a few of the obviuos differences. You'll also need to modify the crossmember and do something about the torque arm.

B&M makes the kit to do the swap, the kit for the 350 turbo was $80 i dont know how much it is for the th400, but in the picture it looked like they gave you the crossmeber.

I just went to advance auto and ordered it

hope this helps

For the driveshaft, you can use one out of a Camaro/Firebird that came with the 200c transmission and have a driveline shop put on a 400 slip yoke. That's all I had to do with mine at least

i got the proper yolk and shifter this afternoon. so ill have to get my shaft lengthened 2 1/2 inches and order the kit for the torque arm and trans mount(jegs has it for 125)

what a world of difference this thing is going to be, from 305, 700r4, 3.08 gears to 355, TH400, 4.10 gears with lim slip and moser axels.
