How much can a 700r4 take?

Yeah I was wondersing how much a 700r4 can take horse power wise .

I'm doing an engine swap and I'm looking to get about 300 hp when I'm done. can my tranny take it? I know there are kits out there to try and make them solid. is it worth getting or should I try to fins a th350?

bare in mind that the th350 will be hard to put in due to it not fitting exactly.

The 700R4 will take care of that easy unless you do something Dumb. That is not a lot of Horsepower.

We just dropped a 360hp/417lb.ft. crate motor behind my 161k mile 700R4. Currently looking for another transmission. It's not broken yet but we're afraid for it.

Find a good Tranny mechanic. Have that trans rebuilt with a corvette 10vain pump and corvette gears, and that tranny will last forever..

Go to http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...t&productid=35 and see if this fits the bill?

How much power is that tranny rated for? And does it come with a TC?

Not sure what a TC is. The tranny should be good for anything the any Vette could put out. My Tranny guy says that when he's done I could run that Tranny behind the Diesel in my 1 Ton truck. It will be plenty strong for anything. Don't have any ratings for you though..Sorry...

By TC I meant torque converter, should have spelled it out. I was asking if the Pro Built unit came with a torque converter or if I need to buy another one.

I've been looking around at various 700R4 guys and I've found one from TCI, the Pro Built unit and another company here in Florida called Monster Transmissions that are selling a tranny with a torque converter and a $150 core charge all for $1120 (and shipping wouldn't be that much since it's already in state)-- that tranny is supposed to be rated for 675hp. I'm printing up all the statistics/specs on the various ones I've found so far and I'm going to run them to my mechanic today and see what he thinks.

I recently bought a rebuilt 700R4 with Torque Converter for $815 (delivery included) from Street/Strip Transmissionsout of Tarpon Springs. It's fully tricked out Corvette servo's and all. It's rated to be able to stand up to 700 horses.

Love my raptor 700R4/Coan 2500 stall combo. Billet servo instead of corvette, 13 vane pump, rabestos plates and kevlar band. Shifts solid! Check it out at transmissioncenter.net
