Wow.....that's quite a bit of torque!!! :hail:

No, I'm no expert, but I think I read somewhere that even a LS1 T-56 is only rated at like 450 ft. lbs torque, and somthin like 450 HP. The LT1 version slightly less. And the LT1 version is the easier swap of the two.

And BTW - Yes, a T-56 will swap into your 82. Do a search. Lots of good info in there!

You will need a driveshaft+torque arm. With that much power, I would have a steel one made. Spohn at the top of the page can help with both.

If your going to use all 500 ponies, the tranny will eventually break. I would get an aftermarket one.

Wow!!..... Do they have a steel fork to fit a T-5???

I'd definatley be interested in getting one if it would allow my T-5 to handle an extra 100 ft. lbs. of torque!!!

Yes you're right. Two different tranny's I know. How does the fork allow the tranny to handle more torque???

I always thought the fork just held the throwout bearing and engages/disengages the clutch??? Just curious i guess. Thanks.

Isn't there a shift fork in them or something?

Even if you did get a stronger case for the T-5, their are still many other weak points in the tranny.

From what I hear, the input shaft on the Viper is also different: Larger with more splines.

BTW, I'm doing the T56 swap in my '84 right now... I just shut off the garage lights, and there's tools laying all over the place. The T56 is only half an inch from home, but it got stuck. I guess I'll have to back it up and check that pilot bearing.

Supposedly, they shipped out my G Force T-5 yesterday. Said they'd have it finished and shipped "Mid-week" whatever that means. I assume Wednsday.

I dread the install. I'm gettin too old for this.

Sure, I can throw a post up. Of course, until I get a ZZ4 crate put in, I only have my lowly L69 to test it with.
