How much is too much? (tailshaft endplay)

How much is too much? (tailshaft endplay)

I just took the driveshaft out of my car and noticed that I can move the tailshaft up and down about 1/4 inch. Is this normal?

Nooooo! 1/4", That is way too much. Are you sure it is 1/4"? If it is 1/4" than you prob have a bad bearing or something of that sort.

I don't have a vibration or anything. I took it on a trip this weekend and raced it and drove home. I probably drove 350 miles with no trouble. How can I change a bearing? Remove the tailshaft?
