T56 / T5 electrical connection comparison...pics galore!
OK T56 swap guys...help me out here. I've got my T5 out and getting ready to put my T56 in, but I have some questions about the electrical connections. Check out the pics below...the first two are of both sides of the "new" T56 and the last one is of my old T5.

Regarding the T56, I believe that these four connections are:
CAGS
Reverse lockout
VSS
Reverse lights
If this is correct, can someone please match the number with the right connector for me on both transmissions?
T56 (red numbers)
1 - ???
2 - ???
3 - ???
4 - ???
T5 (green numbers)
1 - ???
2 - ???
I believe that connector #1 on the T5 is identical to connector #4 on the T56, but I'm not sure what it is. If it is a match, then I guess that takes care of where to plug that one in. I'm guessing this is the VSS...you tell me.
I have read a bunch of posts about the reverse lockout. From what I understand, this does not exist on the T5 that I have. It looks like the best option, according to most of the posts, is to wire one lead to ground and the other to a brake light or something. Any good advice as to the closest spot to wire into this on the car?
I also believe that the CAGS sensor is pretty much just there for visual appeal on our thirdgen cars since our ECMs don't utilize it.
That just leaves the reverse lights, which I am guessing is connector #2 on the T5. Do I have to splice a new plug onto the end if it doesn't match-up with the T56 connector?
Thanks for the help, guys.

T56 (red numbers)
1 - CAGS
2 - Reverse lockout
3 - VSS
4 - Reverse lights
T5 (green numbers)
1 - Reverse lights
2 - VSS
Also Instead of wiring the reverse lockout to the brakes you could do what I did and take the reverse lockout off the tranny and take it apart then cut the spring no more then 2 coils (start with 1 1/2 coils and go from there), It makes it a lot easier to get into reverse.

all you have to do is get the connector for the reverse lights and splice them into your existing wiring harness. then take your vss from your t5 will bolt up to your t56(pretty cool huh) and if you wanted to use your reverse lock out if you race. all you have to do is wire a toggle switch to it. id tell you how but im to tired to think. but basically flip the switch when you race that way you dont slam it into reverse. and the cags all you need to do with that is cover it with tape because i dont think you want it locking your shifts so you go from 1 to 4.

Uh...dude, I finished my T56 installation 2-1/2 years ago (check out the post dates)...so I've been done with the swap for quite a while. And if I'd had the reverse light connector from the donor car, I would have definitely used it...but I didn't. That's why I had to buy one.
Regarding your PM questions, you can go to my web page to learn all about the parts I used for the swap by clicking the "www" button on my post. And you have to use an LT1 tranny because the LS1 bolt pattern will not match up with your engine.
