Are T-5 Driven Gears interchangeable between VSS and Cable Drive?

I have done searches and came up with no results so far, I am looking to take a T-5 out of a cable driven (speedo) camaro and put it in a Electric VSS style (speedo) Firebird, I know I have to buy a VSS to make the swap, but can I just use the driven gear out of the cable driven car and insert it into the VSS? Both cars have the same gear ratio.
Any help would be appreciated!

No....

The VSS gear is only the little round part with the teeth, it has no shaft like the cable gear would have; it just has a D-shaped hole in the center.

Probably wouldn't be too hard to fab something up though.
