Transgo shift kit solved finally

A few months ago I posted that after the performance shift kit from Transgo I put in the auto transmission would not shift out of 1st gear. After several posts and no problem solved by me or anyone on the board I had the car towed to the tranny shop. It turns out Transgo give you 2 pistons to choose from in one of the bores. Transgo did not say which was best so I guessed the shorter piston and it will cause the gov gear to flood and not shift.

Use the longer piston when you do the shift kit from Transgo. This is costing me way too much money now for there oversight.

It is true that there are two different 3-2 valves in the Performance Shift kit, but it is impossible to mix them up, and the directions are clear as to which valve to use. I would like to have a "better" explanation than what he has given you. Which "so called" pistons is he talking about?

I can get out the video. It says that if the bigger piston, for the 2-3 bore, does not fit use the other piston. I used the smaller because the bigger did not go in. It turns out that there was a burr where I drilled a hole that was keeping the bigger piston from going in. I sanded the bore after drilling so I guess I didn't sand good enough. Anyway, I'm sure the video does not say the smaller piston will not work so why would I think both would work. The video should have more explaining on how the valve body works to get more of a sense on how crucial things can be.

By the way I love the way the firebird shifts now. And the owner of the shop did say he can see why I thought I needed the smaller piston. I had a burr from a drilled hole that kept the longer piston from fitting. The video only says use the one that fits.
