transmissions for dummies

just to make sure I've got my information down right....the stock camaro 5 speed is the t5 and the 6 is the t56 correct? turbo 350 is automatic and posi is the rear end. hope I'm good so far. How does gearing like 3.73 and 4.10 change the way the car acts?

I don't know which way it goes but I do know changing the gears will allow you to either have faster acceleration with lower top end speed or less acceleration with higher top end speed

Axle/Gears: 3:73
The higher numerical rear end gear gives better acceleration, but less top end. 4:11s have better acceleration compared to a 2:73.

The stock manual tranny in 3rd gens is the T-5. T-56s are only available in 4th gens, but can be swapped in.

The stock automatic trannsmission is the 700R-4. Unless your car was made in 1982, it was a 200C some were made in 83.

The turbo 350 was not available from the factory in our cars. That is a 3 speed auto.

Posi is in the rear and it makes both tires spin instead of one.
