700r4 Problems

Hey Guys,

I know I know, Another 700R4 question? well this is really wierd... I havnt found anything that is similar to my problem on here and have searched...

My trans doesnt shift unless u let off, when u let off it shifts perfectly fine. Ive tried adjusting the cable and have had others who have worked for GM who are friends help me and nothing has changed anything.

Up hills the tranny will slip kinda like it goes into neutral unless im going at least 25. I cant put much pressure on the gas or else it redlines and kinda seems to go to neutral.

Someone has suggested I drop the pan and service the tranny cuz the car sat for 2 years, and they said that it may not be shifting because the tranny doesnt have enough hydrollic pressure because the filter is ****ty. he said "ford trannys wont do that but GM tranny's get really bad with clogged filters" I am gonna do that asap, but will it fix the problem? anyone have any ideas?

On a side note, when the car is started i kinda hear a rapping beneath my console. Is this a tranny mount? when me and my pop had it up on the lift the mount looks pretty ****ty, and ive heard that the mount can cause the sound.

Thanks for the help in advance,
TOM

The mount is a no brainer - look at it. Is the rubber damaged/torn? It should be one clean single mass.

Sounds like, amongst other things, your clutches are burnt up. I think you're going to need to crack the tranny open and do some swapping for those. Thats about as far as my exp. goes. Good luck with the other stuff.

If the fluid level is ok?, and it looks and smells ok?, then you have (most likely) a forward clutch problem. The transmission will have to come out on this one.
