Is it possible that I just broke a cable or something? I'm hoping its not the trans itself. That could get expencive to fix. Its feels like the trans is phisically moved up towards the frong of the engine. Though I know thats not possible thats how the shifter feels. Auto btw.. when I pull the shifter back it only goes about half way and seems to hit 1st gear and 2nt.. but when I move it forward past the middle of the of the hole for it in the console its like its so loose and it wont hit neutral, reverse or park. Any Ideas?

Get up under the car and make sure the cable bracket on the trans isn't loose or something simple like that. If it's tight, you need a cable.

the cable's on the drivers' side of the trans, and if you unbolt the 13mm nut on it, you can shift the lever manually to make sure it works right.
advance auto carries the cable for $25, i just did mine this week. but cut a slit in the rubber halfway from the hole to the edge. it's too hard to take the bend, and needs some play.

Fixed it.. plastic peice under the console that held the cable in place.. well the plastic clip on there wore out and just coulnt hold onto the metal bracket. cheap cheap gm plastic parts always breaking.
