Bolt Size???

Can anyone tell me the bolt size of the bolt used to mount the transmission mount to the 700R4 transmission?

I'm currently running with one bolt in place (why, I don't know) and I can't exactly take the one remaining bolt out and then drive the car to the parts store to match it up.

Help would be greatly appreciated.

Think it is a 7/16" bolt, if not 7/16 then it should be 3/8" 16

It is neither of those.

It's metric. It's 10mm, whatever the standard (not fine) thread is in that size.

so it's 10mm, 30 thread, 1.5 inches long??

30 thread? I thought 16 thread was pretty corse ... I'll give 30 a shot .. hopefully the parts store can get me one.

Can GM still get me this bolt?

ahhh si senor :P

so approx. 1.18 inches long then

Assuming I can find a bolt that's 30mm long

I don't know how one of the bolts managed to come out ... should I used loc-tite this time?

I haven't gotten under to look yet but I'm hoping the bolt actually fell out and didn't break. That would be a bummer. Ever tried drilling and tapping a hole while under the car facing up? LOL! I don't think I'd want to try.

Its actually a common bolt size. I now Advanced Auto has them in stock because I bought one today. Go to your local parts store, or even Home Depot and ask for that bolt size.

If you can't get one of the GM types with the locking feature on the underside of the head, then I'd put a lock washer there just for a lil extra insurance.

Went to O'reilly today .... all they have is Grade 5

Went to Ace Hardware ... all they have is Grade 5 ... they have the hardened kind which is as good as a Grade 8 but they were out. Figures.

Does anyone think I should use a Grade 5 or should I just try to find a Grade 8?

Grade 5 should do just fine, not all the hardware on the car is grade 8, most of it is 5.
