T56 hydraulic questions can you bleed?
I'm working out the clutch on my T56 retorfit, and have read most of the posts on the hydraulics. I need to know if the sealed system that came with my 97 tranny can be bled? It also looks like I will have to compress the slave cyl. as I tighten down the nuts that hold it on, since it is all the way out now, and is tightening up on the fork long before the nuts are tight..... is that the correct way? There is a yellow dot painted on my cover plate, but the instructions it didn't say anything about having to index the cover, does anyone know if there is a special way the cover plate needs to go on? Thanks to any replies!!

Did you push in the master cylinder pushrod to get it on the pedal? That might be why you can't bolt up the slave because it's already putting pressure on the slave so it will not compress. You could do what I did and make you master pushrod fully adjustable see pic, that way it will still be fully extended (so no more putting pressure on the slave) and you can even match the clutch pedal to your brake pedal.
To bleed the system you need to remove the reservoir cap and diaphragm and hold the slave at a 45* or more with the pushrod end facing down then push in the rod and keep pumping it tell there are no more bubles entering the reservoir, install the diaphragm and reservoir cap and your done.

Tony thanks for replying. I have only gotten as far as mounting the peddle, and master cyl. I was sure the system had air in it since it was drained for shipping before I got it. The piston in the slave was all the way out, and I couldn't push it with my hand when I posted the question. Since then, today, I used a little puller to compress the slave, and once I broke it loose I could work it with my hand. I had someone watch as I pumped the slave in and out, and I got lots of bubbles out of the system. I kept it up untill they quit. Then I emptied the slave into the reservoir by pushing the piston in, then I sucked it out, and refilled with clean fluid. I did this several times. I can hold the slave about half way in and have some one push the peddle now and it moves the slave correct amount. I saw your drawing when I was resurching, and made note of it. Did you take the rod out of the master cyl to do the work? If so how? I will probably do that fix to get my peddle height right a little further down the line.
I will continue to follow up on this post for any one that is changing to t56 and has questions about the clutch hydraulics.

Don't bother taking the pushrod out your better off just taking the whole thing off the car and doing it that way.

I did mine by filling the resivoir with fluid and crawling under the car. With the line straight up (no loops) and the fitting on the top (so all the bubbles and rise up to the master) I just pushed the slave rod down a couple times wait a few minutes and repeat.... then mount the slave.
Just dont push the clutch peddle with the slave not bolted up.... Pops the seal and makes a mess (I never personally did it..)
destruction!!!

This is my first time trying to post a photo.... so if I goof forgive me.
I wanted to see my new setup work properly before I installed the tranny, but the fork mounts to the trans. I made this brace to hold the fork and can see it work just fine. I had to space it out about 1 and 1/2 inches from the bell housing. Everything seems to work well, so the bleeding process I talked about earlier is working.
