clutch problem - need help fast!!!

I am right in the middle of a clutch change and need some quick help! How do you remove the clutch slave cylinder and it's pushrod??? When I take the 2 bolts off the slave cylinder, the pushrod that is attached to the clutch fork starts extending. Is this not bad??? Will this not damage the slave cylinder???? Will it just keep coming out??

I read in the Haynes manual that you can damage the hydraulic system if the there is movement when disconnected. I am nervous about damaging it!

QUick help would be greatly appreciated because I would like to complete the job tonight. thanks.

eddie.

It's normal. When they say "movement while disconnected" they mean don't step on the pedal or you'll blow the slave seal.
