Speedo not reading right STILL!!!!

Changed the rear gear. I bought speedo gears for my transmission like I was told I had to do and come to find out I have a electric speedo instead of the cable driven so I had to buy a electronic ratio adapter and hooked it up and the speedo is still not reading right. What wire should this thing be hooked into I have it spliced into the brown VSS one, anyone else using this thing??

Even though you have an electric speedo the vss still gets the signal from the gears in the tranny so by changing the speedo gears your speedo should read the correct speed. Are you sure it's off? You sure you got the right gears?

The gears for the cable driven speedo and electric speedo are different but the gear on the output shaft are the same and they are both red so there is no need to change that one, the one I would need to change would be the one on the sensor itself and I cant find anyone that sells them. Bowtie overdrive told me I had to wire in a Electronic Speedometer Adapter instead of changing that gear. When I am going 70 the speedo says 85 and when a state trooper is riding your *** a relaxing drive turns into stress out mania. What wire should the thing be wired into, it alters the signal coming from the speed sensor. Maybe I have it wired into the wrong wire because it is changing nothing. The sensor on the transmission has two thick wires on the plug and the brown wire at the computer is a very thin wire. What happened to the two thick ones?? I wish I had time to mess with the car like I wanted but I work two jobs and I just cant do it.

call the dealership and ask for the part #'s for the speedo gears for your car then type them into gmpartsdirect.com. Either that or just get them directly from the dealership, but it will prolly be more expensive.

No problem. I just noticed you have 3.23's which some z28's came with stock, so all you gotta do is tell them you need the speedo gears for a 91 z28 with 3.23s and you should be set.
