Keep in mind...Z_Ghost has an aftermarket T-56. The GM unit has the slave mounted from the rear instead of the front. I'm planning on changing the oil in my RS this week...when I do I'll get some pics of how the slave mounts while the car is up on the lift.

That's the stock T-5 bell housing.

The aftermarket T-56 uses the stock T-5 bellhousing doesn't it? So the clutch setup should be identical except for the input shaft size/spline count which you can't see anyway......at least that's what I thought.

The aftermarket uses the t5 bell housing an clutch. I would imagine that the input shaft is the made to match that of a t5 also since it uses the t5 clutch.

With the aftermarket (retrofit) T-56 you use the same clutch as the T5.
The stock T-5 bellhousing and clutch setup is used, the retrofit T-56 comes with an adapter plate that bolts to the bellhousing and then the trans bolts to that.

In the pic you can see the plate bolted to the bellhousing, the trans is going on this weekend.

i have an auto matic so i thought that all i had to do was buy all the little parts like the crossmember and slave cyclinder and the t56 from any year 94to97 would bolt right up to the 305 tbi with 1 rear main seal.

The GM T-56 will bolt right up to the 305. You have to use the T-56 bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, clutch hydros, and shifter and a conversion crossmember.

You only use T-5 parts for an aftermarket (a.k.a. retrofit) T-56.
