Skip Reverse?
Skip Reverse?
Hi,
I have a 91' automatic RS camaro. Today, out of the blue, the car won't go to reverse from park -- it skips the gear. I can get it into reverse, however, by moving it into drive and then pushing it back up into R.
Other symptoms include having to go down to D1 (it won't go directly into overdrive) to get the car to engage. Also, when I try to put it in park, the car seems like it's in netrual. Only after putting a bit more pressure and waiting awhile will the car go into P.
I checked the tranny fluid level and it looks fine. The car also shifted fine when Drive was engaged.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

Yep, you are right.
Apparently one of the bolts holding the linkage cable to the car had completly come out. I went to Home Depot and replaced it.
Final Cost of Repair = .32 cents
I wonder what they would have charged me had I brought it into a shop....
